Reportage >>> Prison Rodeo
|
| |
The
Angola Prison Rodeo takes place at the Louisiana State Prison
every April and October. Not only is it one of the last surviving
prison rodeos in America, it's one of the biggest.
Prisoners earn on average 2 - 4 cents
an hour while working prison jobs, but on rodeo day
they can win up to $500 in two short minutes. All they need
do is be the last person sat at a mock poker table, cards
held high, while a 2000 pound bull charges through. Needless
to say, there is rarely am empty chair in the 7500 capacity
purpose built stadium.
